1) What is a Zoning Code?

a. A brief history of zoning and discuss the purpose of zoning in the United States and Florida.

b. Examples of different types of zoning codes and show how they are used.

2) Zoning Codes? Comprehensive Plans? Now I’m really confused…What is the difference?

a. Discussion on the general differences between a code and a plan.

b. Discussion on the statutory (Florida) requirements for zoning implementation as it relates to the City’s Comprehensive Plan. We will illustrate this by picking an actual Comp Plan policy and showing how it is codified.

3) How are Rezoning applications reviewed?

a. Provide and diagrams of the review process and discuss the roles of individual departments.

4) Why are citizens an important part of the zoning process?

a. Discussion of the notification process, its statutory basis and intent, and reinforce the importance of the citizen’s role in the process.

a. Allow 20 to 30 minutes for questions.
